Job description overview:

The receptionist is the first and last person to be in contact with customers. the impression created by the receptionist is very important and strongly influences how customers feel about Mai Nail Lounge.

The primary purpose/responsibility of the receptionist is to make sure the customer feels welcomed and comfortable, taking the role of the salons host or hostess. this is done by greeting our customers cheerfully and with enthusiasm, making them feel good from the moment they enter the salon and communicating with them while they wait. the receptionist also ensures customers are charged for all services and communicates any additional add-ons services.

The receptionist knows exactly how the salon operates and has the ability to execute our Mai Nail Lounge Operating Principles and ensures customers are satisfied before leaving the salon.

The receptionist should also have a thorough knowledge of the Mai Nail Lounge location, service menu, available retail, hours of operation and be able to communicate this information to customers in person or on the phone. It is important for the receptionist to understand that the voice on the other end of the phone is a potential customer or applicant and it is important that the information is delivered cordially and clearly with a SMILE.

Essential functions:

- greet every customer immediately in a warm, friendly manner and check them in

- answer phones, speaking clearly and confidently

- inform customers on how to make a reservation via Vagaro Salon Software, online check-in, and calling ahead

- assist customers with any questions they may have about purchasing products and suggest additional services Mai Nail Lounge offers

- operate the POS, accept payment, give change and provide receipts

- provide an accurate estimated wait time and encourage customers to wait or return as appropriate

- ask the customer how their service was and listen attentively to any concerns, complaints or positive feedback and seeks manager assistance as necessary

- assists with sanitation tools and follows all sanitation procedures required by the State Board

- keeps the reception area, desk, windows, product shelves and floor clean when not serving customers

- keeps up on laundry

- assist with product inventory, pricing, stocking, and dusting when needed

qualifications:

experience - Prior Nail Salon work experience is required. We are looking for an experienced Nail salon receptionist (at least 1-2 years in customer service and appointment handling)

professional appearance - you are the first person customers see when the walk into the salon. first impressions are super important so along with a friendly smile, we expect you to wear formal clothing with presentable hairstyles and makeup (if you wear).

outgoing/animated/confident personality - because the receptionist makes the first contact with each customer, it is important to be warm and friendly. this position requires a person who truly enjoys working with people.

communication - it is super important to explain services, products, hours of operation, and to listen to customers pertaining to any special requests. (if you're bilingual, that's definitely a plus!)

phone manners - one of the key roles in being a receptionist is communicating over the phone with clients/ potential clients. we expect our receptionist to answer every phone call with a polite tone and answer any questions with a reassuring voice.

multi-tasking - {VERY IMPORTANT} being a receptionist at this establishment requires the ability to multi-task. in some situations, you must know how to handle answering the phone while dealing with a customer in front of you. it is also very important that you help keep the salon clean and organized at ALL times.

cash management skills - you will be handling cash and making transactions. it is important to charge the customers correctly and its also important to know the cost of services.

reliability - being the receptionist is like being the head of the house. you are controlling client inflow and making sure the day runs smoothly. it is extremely important to be on time, punctual, and a reliable team player.

physical requirements:

lifting up to 10 lbs. - you may need to lift up packages and boxes when doing inventory and stocking shelves with supplies.

walking/ standing - you may need to be continuously walking or standing when helping with clients, organizing the shop, occasionally doing laundry or cleaning up.

typing/ writing - you will be making appointments on the computer and writing certain things down when needed.

NOTE: you will be exposed to different fragrances and chemicals (ex. acetone, alcohol, oils, etc.).
