Description
Capitol Hill based news bureau has an immediate opening for an Entry Level Encode Tech (perfect for recent college grad - will train) to support our News Video Operations while working closely with other broadcast and transcription staff.

Hours: Monday thru Thursday Noon to 10:00 p.m. (ET)

Responsibilities: Perform daily encoding system operations, ensure schedules and resources for personnel and technology align on a daily schedule - Provide video production of DC and National News events (FedNet will train) - Assist in coordinating daily logistical and production needs with colleagues - Create and schedule recurring and ad hoc news events for encoding - Ensure quality audio levels and continuity of encoded content - Ensure successful creation and final digital placement of made video - Monitor and prevent discrepancies in systems and content - Allocate encoders and assign filenames in accordance with in-house standards - Prepare root cause analysis on all defects such that outages are minimized - Adhere to standard operation procedures for all encoding technologies and activities - Demonstrate operational knowledge scheduling automation and encoding systems operations to augment staff and coverage needs.

Basic Qualifications: Entry Level – we will train. Perfect for recent graduates. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Broadcast, Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent work experience - Operational Knowledge of fiber optic technologies and coax transport, media encoding and decoding, ASI, video over IP, IPTV, standards converters, frame syncs - Facility with MS Office, cloud-based document and tracking protocols - Excellent communication skills, able to manage technical operations while interfacing with broadcast staff, streaming operations and vendors - Ability to prepare and deliver written and oral communications of complex matters.
